SCOM integration with a ticketing system?

2010
09.03
Research links:
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/…em-center.aspx
http://www.systemcentercentral.com/F…9/Default.aspx

Looks like SCOM R2 has some connectors that you can utilize through BMC Remedy ARS, HP Operations Manager, IBM Tivoli Enterprise Console, as well as a universal one.

We’re going to start looking into a ticketing system next week and this is one of the things we’d like to have. The theoretical backup plan is to filter SCOM alerts through a custom management pack and/or export the alerts to a secondary database / script to filter them, which would then email the appropriate alerts to the ticket system which would then create the tickets.

Has anyone here set this up before?

Accessing DMZ public IPs from Internal LAN

2010
09.03
Hey All,

I have one issue that can i access the DMZ server which is natted & public , from my internal LAN??

My scene is that i have 2 DMZ servers which are having no access to LAN and no access to LAN->DMZ (from internal DMZ ip )

Now previously i allowed to access the DMZ from LAN and the no access of LAN from DMZ but now i made totally out of the my network.

now by this the servers are accessible from outside via natted public IPs but i can not access it anyhow. My question is that can i access the DMZ from LAN with the natted public IPs

e.g My LAN is 192.168.1.0/24
DMZ internal pool-10.10.10.1/24
DMZ windows -10.10.10.200
DMZ windows -10.10.10.201
natted public IPs for 10.10.10.200 – 208.106.*.54
10.10.10.200 – 208.106.*.52

Now i want to access 208.106.*.54 from my browser in LAN

Please help me out as this is making me sick.

Thanks in advance
Rak

Few large hosts or many smaller hosts

2010

I have been asked an interesting question; is it better to have few larger esx hosts or more smaller hosts??? i.e. hypothetically, would 3 hosts carrying 4 quad cores and 256 GB Ram be better or worse than 6 hosts with 2 quad cores and 128 GB?
Any thought would be appreciated.

Hi:

I’d like to know if there is a limit to the number of RDP connections on Windows Server 2003/2008 Std./Ent.? Or are we just limited by the hardware configuration?

How does faxing work with SBS 2003?

2010
09.03
Hello All,

Sorry for the rather dumb question, but i cant see any clear explanations.

Currently we have Internet > Router > Switch > Server (SBS 2003 R2) / Clients (XP Pro SP3)

We have a separate phone line that just has a Fax machine and PDQ terminal sat on it. We also have signed up to a fax-to-email service, so all our incoming emails are routed to an email account. The fax phone line now seems redundant to me and i want to get SBS to handle the faxes. I know i need to get some fax modem connected to the server.

My question is, do i need a separate phone line to send the faxes out? Or can it all go down the single internet line?

Sorry for the rather confusing question!

Cheers

Hello, I have an Exchange 2007 setup. I recently realized that Out Of Office configuration for some particular users were not working.

It gets notified that they have Out Of Office configured and currently running but no notification mail is sent back when internal / external clients send mails to these recipients.

How can this issue be corrected organizational wide.. Thank you.

Outlook Web App Defaults to IIS7 Page???

2010
09.03
Can anyone help with this?. I am presently building an exchange 2010 server. The install has all proceeded well. Been away from Exchange for a few years so trying to get back into it.

The exchange installed with a typical install, e.g cas, hub, mailboxes on the one server due to budget constraints.

I have all the user mailboxes created and sending and receiving ok. I am now trying to get the Outlook Wep App working. I have configured ports on the firewall for port 80 and 443 with a NAT rule to our internal mail server.

Trying to access the external url works, but for some reason when i go to for instance https: //mymail.mydomain.net it makes a connection and goes straight through to an IIS7 Welcome page where it allows you to select a number of languages. Is there anything missing on the IIS config. I can get on to the webmail logon screen via the internal url, but it for some reason refuses the network logon details?. Even though they are correct.

Any ideas on whats causing this issue or how to fix?. I have looked at a few sites, but non seem much help.

Cheers

Certificates for RemoteApp via RDS Gateway

2010
09.03
We have RDS RemoteApp farm running in our enviornment. It’s setup to tunnel through RDS Gateway setup on ISA 2006. My question is the number of certificates required for this setup. There are three that I had to issue; one for RDS gateway, one for RemoteApp farm session hosts and one digital signature for the apps. Granted, RDS gateway certificate is only needed on the gateway server but digital signing certificate and RemoteApp farm certificate is installed on all the farm members. When time comes to renew the certificate, it’ll take ages to update all servers if it’s a large farm. How are you guys handling updating the servers if there are hundreds of servers in the farm?

connect Aironet 1200 & Lynksys Broadband Router

2010

Hi,

I have a linksys broadband router downstairs and I have a small call-manager lab upstairs. I want to connect the Aironet 1200 to my Linksys as if it were a device so I can have internet access on my lab up stairs. What need I do please to accomplish this. Basically I can’t run a cable that distance with out the wife going mad so I was hoping I could do it wirelessly so to speak. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Rgds,
